Show 141 Three types of programs can be combined, in fact the last one should complement the first two. Realized experiments have shown the effectiveness in each program that should be realized by truly prepared technicians. Rubio Orbe, Gonzalo. "Educacion E Integracion de Grupos Indigenas," America Indigena, XXV (April, 1965), pp. 179-228. English Summary: The planning of the economic development of a community is largely dependent, among other factors, from the cultural and technical characteristics of its population. Here education plays a definite important role, especially in the Indian rural communities, as it contributes to break traditional cultural and social barriers and so fosters a better participation and integration of the community into the national culture and economy. In a direct and determinate manner, education influences productivity of human efforts in all their applications. There is an intimate relation existing between education and the goals or objectives of development that a country may wish to reach in the future. Consequently, international relations and coordination between the educational planning and programing of socioeconomic development must exist and function. Scholarship for Indians must be a decisive and important agency of promotion. The schools must carry out activities in an integral practical manner, both in pedagogical and technical aspects, favoring and covering activities such as economics, medicine and hygiene, arts and crafts, agriculture and stockbreeding and social and cultural betterment. The new educator must not only instruct, but promote and help integrate the backward groups to the national culture and economy. The present paper considers the educational aspects in relation to Indian population, aspects due to observations and experiences not only in Ecuador, but obtained also in situ in Mexico, Bolivia and Peru. 1966 Castillo F, Victor M. "Presencia de Fray Bartolome. Una Breve Antologia," America Indigena, XXVI No. 4 (October, 1966), pp. 373-386. English Summary: The object in preparing this small anthology is to make better known some of the best writings of Fray Bartolome de las Casas on the occasion of the fourth centennial of his death. With it, the author has tried to emphasize the profound timeliness still to be found in the Dominican friar's ideas. |
