Wilkinson. 2Gtb October, Sunday.-Dclivered out a ration of corn by way of distinction of the Sabbath. Prc·paring for our departure. 27th October, M onday.-l)elivcrcd to lieutenant Wil .. kinson, letters for the general and our fric11Js, ~ with other papers, consistin,. l. f '1is instructions, traverse table of our voyage and a draught of our route, to that place complete; in order that if we were lost, and h~. arrived in saf ·ty ; we might not have made the tour, without some bc'nd it to our country. He took with hin1 in corn and meat, 21 clays provisions and all the necessary tools, to build canoes or cabbins. Launched his canoes. W c concluded, we would separate in the morning. l-Ie to descend and we to ascend to the mountains. 28th October, Tuesday. -As soon as possible, all wa~ in motion, my party crossing the river to the north siuc and lieutenant Wilkin on, launching his canoes of skins and wood.
