Show MICHAEL HENRY STEVENS: A local, East High lad with a gift for music, skiing and joviality, Mike attended the U for his undergraduate studies where he was active in all areas of campus life particularly sorority row. Mike spent the first three years of medical school avoiding the marriage draft and running SAMA. However, after spending his last summer in a lonely, small country town in the middle of Kansas, even Mike decided "that's enough." He returned home and married a girl with talent to match her beauty. Mike's joviality and enthusiasm have been enjoyed by us all, and we wish the newlyweds luck as they travel to California for a year of internship and a possible residency in surgery. CHARLES T. SWALLOW: Chuck is a busy, articulate man with diversified interests. He started out as a chemistry major at the California Institute of Technology, served an LOS mission in France, and then returned to the University of Utah for a B.A., magna cum laude, in medical biology. He spent his first two summers of Medical School working in the surgery research laboratory of Dr. Russell Nelson, and his last summer as a substitute physician at Idaho State Mental Hospital. He brought honor to himself by winning a set of the Great Books of the Western World for posing the question of continuing need for philosophers in our modern world of bustling pragmatism. With all this activity, he still finds time to devote to his wife Lynne, and their sons, Teddy and Bradley James. Charles plans to intern in the Army and then to embark upon a residency in general surgery. 63 |
