Show Anest~esio[o&j It has been said that anesthesiology is for those who like to pa gas, golf and ski. The philosophy of the department was the le stress the better, and their byword was informality. The staff, le by Dr. Carter Ballinger, was approachable and friendly. Unfort\ nately their informality got the better of them when the time corr for formal lectures. The result was the most poorly organized a poorly presented lectures of our entire medical education. Wha ever success Anesthesiology's teaching program enjoyed originate in the OR where we were allowed to perform an occasional proc dure ourselves and perhaps with the walk-around orientation which Ors.
