Show JOSEPH ALLEN ROBERTS, JR.: Known affectionately to some as "Jose" and to others as "Gunner," Joe came to Utah after receiving a B.A. in Chemistry from the College of Great Falls in Montana. From the freshman year when Joe "simplified" gross anatomy by accidentally dissecting away a hard-to-identify thoracic duct, he continued to bui Id a reputation as one of our most intense students. Between school years Joe did blood coagulation research in 1964, and in 1965 won a SAMA American Academy of General Practice preceptorship in Wisconsin. His future plans include a straight pediatrics internship followed by two years in the Navy. That service seems to have been chosen less for its professional opportunities than for the special advantages bachelor naval officers are rumored to enjoy. Joe has already begun his physical training for the military with elbow bending exercises in Park City. After a pediatrics residency he plans to practice in Montana. His insistence tha-i• pediatricians don't need firsthand experience in child raising suggests that marriage plans are still a bit vague. MICHAEL C. ROMNEY: A native of Salt Lake and a natural politician, salesman, and musician, Mike has made quite a name for himself as the "Jolly Green Giant." In spite of working his way through school by blowing his trombone evenings and weekends, the early morning study hours have kep•i• Mike near the top of the class scholastically. With his tremendous personality, scintillating humor and ability to make all situations enjoyable, Mike has been a major asset to the class. Perhaps his greatest assets, however, are his vivacious wife, Dora and two husky kids who promise to become "Jolly Blond Giants." After talking the rest of the class into interning at Orange County, California, Mike plans on interning at Holy Cross and following this, possibly a residency in neurology. 61 |
