Show TERRY E. GAGON: Terry was born in Hiawatha and grew up in Price, Utah. For many years before starting school at Carbon College, he planned a career in music, becoming very ·accomplished in both violin and piano. Terry completed his premedical work at the University of Utah and plans to receive a somewhat belated bachelor's degree in medical biology at the same time he receives his M.D. Certainly one of our most colorful classmates, Terry has done much of his studying at the Crow's Nest and in the Huddle; those who have helped with his frequent moves claim that he stores everything in his apartment except an iron to go with his ironing board. Extracurricular interests include skiing and mountain climbing. After offering his expert services as a ski instructor to Dr. Kirsanow, Terry demonstrated just how it's done by breaking his hand. Following a not-too-fruitful summer studying elastin changes in the hearts of copper deficient pigs in his laboratory at the Busy Bee, Terry spent two summers in hematology research. He found this so enjoyable that he is considering an academic career. Terry's current plans -call for a straight medicine internship and then a medical residency with, possibly, a subspecialty in hematology. GARY HADDOCK: A strong family man from Idaho Falls, Gary frequently spends the time to hike around the campus with his four-year-old son. He is another of our outdoor and sports enthusiasts, and he has always been able to manage to get in a little extracurricular activity despite his chalking up an excellent scholastic record. With all of this he has managed to survive medical school well-rounded and well-liked. Gary and his family plan on a medical internship, and although he has spent a summer working in cardiac surgery and a summer in neurology, he has not yet decided upon his future after internship. 52 |
