Show Russell Jacobs 13 January 2010 Tyrolean and they took each, myself I was the, actually I think I was the second one across . Howard took the first, he did the Tyrolean across first and then I followed, but um it's not even easy to do that Tyrolean traverse and with our limited experience and knowledge as to how to set one up we were kind of like winging it, but we were safe in doing so. So the two ropes that we rappelled on, down to the notch were used to pull tight, actually we only ended up using one and then I tied on the anchors on the summit of the "Lost Arrow" and well that's true, we did that we used one rope there and then I belayed Howard, he'd actually because of the stretch of the rope he kind of rappelled down to it's lowest point before we had to actually use jumars and jumar up to the tree that the rope was attached to. So there was another rope there I think we had a third rope to because we had to retrieve the ropes that were anchored on "Lost Arrow Spire" so there were three ropes necessary for that to happen. So Howard took the first lead, and while he was in the middle the fellow with the camera and his two friends took his picture. And then subsequently I went across and they took mine as well and we exchanged information. They were actually up there to do the same climb, "Lost Arrow" as well, but I don't recall hiking down with 'em, so they may have stayed up and accomplished that, I don't know how. It was pretty late in the afternoon when we even got back to the rim. So we exchanged information and later we did receive a copy of those photographs. MD: Good shots? Match up with the posters? RJ: They are, well they're in black and white and they're as crisp and clear as you can imagine, I mean very, very, very high quality. Uh, but doing the Tyrolean we had one rope tied that he went across on, I belayed him on the second and then the third was 4 |
