Show -13-- Peppermint Monday seem skinny. I had passed Andrea two turns ago. It was good we were almost to the lunch place. She needed some reviving. I wondered if Renae had thought to bring her lunch. I hoped Matt had a big one in case she hadn't. Jason and Mark didn't stop for lunch with the rest of us. Some of the boys didn't stop with the main group, but they did at least stop to eat. I knew Jason had a lunch with him. It was even a ham sandwich too. I knew he had to be hungry because Jason was always hungry. He ate more than Andrea did, only it never showed on Jason. Since I figured he was hungry, I knew he was just showing off. It would be quite a victory for him and Mark if they arrived at the bridge before the older boys. They certainly would arrive before Matt. Andrea would arrived before Matt. He was coaching Renae along the way. He shared his lunch with her too. I watched while he divided everything in half, right down to his piece of cake. Andrea wouldn't have shared that well with me and I was her best friend. The prom didn't seem to mean much anymore. That was in the past. I explained to Andrea that I had to ride fast after lunch. I had to show everyone a girl could reach the bridge quicker than the boys. I wish I knew where Jason and Mark were. They were the ones I was worried about. Jason had pa's bullhead. He would pedal until he dropped if it meant being first. I must have had a touch of it myself. I was determined to show them all. Andrea said she understood but I knew she was upset. Finishing the ride was enough for her, she didn't have to be first. First was important to me. Renae was likely to finish to, if she let Matt help |
