Show Peppermint- Monday "Red." Billy's eyes bulged even early in the morning. "You aint got enough strength in them skinny legs to pedal clear up the hill. None of us are gonna help either." I flipped a braid off of my shoulder and lifted a red eyebrow. "I don't want your help, Billy. I don't remember asking for it." "You ain't asking yet," Billy grinned and showed his yellow teeth. He was uglier when he smiled than when he was mad. Andrea had a horrified look on her face. Probably from witnessing one of Billy's smiles at such close range. She was still a little hesitant about the ride too. Billy's remarks weren't building her confidence. "You will be asking before we're through though." Renae picked that moment to make her appearance. If I had had any doubt before that she was unprepared for the ride, I didn't anymore. She looked more ready for a church picnic, than a dangerous, four mile ride. Her jeans were new and much too tight for comfort. Her fair was freshly washed and her perfume was stronger than any of the potent stuff Grandma Ruby always wore. Her bike was even new. There wasn't a scratch anywhere on it. It sure wouldn't return in the same condition it had left In. Billy immediately lost all interest in bothering rae. Renae was much more fun to upset. Besides that, she was prettier. Matt thought so too. I could tell by the dumb look he had on his face. Even if he had asked me to the prom, he thought Renae was prettier. Jason and Mark were in a hurry to be on their way. They didn't care who was prettier or what kind of jeans anybody was wearing. My jeans had patches and my hair hung in tight braids.
