Show Peppermint Monday out of character. The ride was getting to her. Matt had listened to the whole agrument from the seat of his bike. His long legs straddled the sides of the bike, allowing his feet to rest solidly on the ground. He wasn't smiling anymore. He was waiting for Andrea or me to give Renae a drink. Andrea wasn't about to, I could tell that much. I didn't think Renae deserved it, but she'd really slow us up without one. I walked over and dropped my canteen by her. "I don't have a cup." Renae started to act indignant but decided to change her mind. She forced a smile of thanks and started gulping. The rate she was drinking, I wouldn't have enough water of my own when I really needed it. "Don't drink too fast. It'll make you sick." Matt had stepped over his bike and joined us. Andrea was getting angrier by the minute, so I grabbed my canteen from Renae's extended arms, and hurried to my bike. We left Matt to help Renae up and keep her company. Andrea was in no mood to do it. "Don't drink too fast." She mimicked her brother as she hopped on her bike. "He's as disgusting as she is." I fastened my eyes to Andrea's back and watched her struggle with each pedal. I couldn't tell if Renae and Matt were coming or if they were still passing out health remedies. All I knew was that I was going to beat Matt Carson to Eaton Bridge. I was going to beat all of them. I wasn't going to be labelled as a weak female. We already had one of those in the group. Sweat was trickling across my forehead and down my armpits. I had heard somewhere that girls don't sweat, they glow. If that was the case, I was incandescent. My leg muscles were hard and flexed to the point they didn't |
