Show Uinta Basin Unit The Uinta Basin Unit is an irrigation source control unit, located in Northeastern Utah. Its primary purpose is the reduction of salinity contributions to the Colorado River from irrigation in tne Vernal, Roosevelt, and Duchesne area of the Uinta Basin. There are 66 canal and lateral systems in the Uinta Basin, many of which are b^ing considered for modification or revised operation to limit salt contributions. Field data collection on canal and lateral seepage^ qround water conditions, cropping patterns, irrigation water management, etc , are nearly complete. The Soil Conservation Service has completed a report on its expected salinity control activities that will be im-^ plem^nted on-farm to coincide and complement the unit. Public Participation with local interest groups and other Government agencies has aiced in identifying the problems and potential solutions. Designs are currently beind prepared for several alternative salinity control plans to be U included in a forthcoming feasibility report. Completion of that report is expected in Fiscal Year 1932. He Elmo Creek Unit *-hs r The Mc Elmo Creek Unit, located in Southwestern Colorado, is primarily an irrigation source control unit, although the possibility exists some salinity contributions are coming from other diffuse and point sources. The irrigation return flows that contribute the majority of the salinity to Mc Elmo Creek ccme frcm the Montezuma Valley Irrigation District, in the vicinity of Cortez. Investigations are currently under way for salinity control in the He Elmo Creek area. Seepage tests of canals and laterals are being conducted, water use and management on farms in the area are being Colorado River Indian Reservation Unit The Colorado River Indian Reservation Unit is an irrigation scource control unit, located in Southwestern Arizona. Irrigation return flews from lands of the Colorado River Indian Reservation contribute salinity to the Colorado River. •nrr''<r^ rr. •^j" TV-T- C ~ ^ < ; rv*v,;«; ,;.'-^v* '"•.' "•** r-.- - • ,\T • |
