This sociological study has attempted to shed some light on the failure of the Constitutional Revolution of Iran-In 1906 as a truly democratic socio- political movement in bringing about deep and vast change in the analyze the causes, conditions, situations, directions, goals and the structure of the society and providing equal rights and opportunities in all spheres of life for the people of Iran. The' emphasis was on attempting to result of the Revolution for the Persian people. The method of research for this study was historical analysis , The author used Smelser's theory of collective behavior (1962) with its associated determinants and components as a model for his sociological analysis of the Revolution. The most distinguishing characteristics of Persian society included the dominance of Islam, widespread illiteracy, the residency of the majority's of the people in rural areas, the insignificant role of women in society, the diversity of language and customs, the lack of effective communication and transportation, and economic situation based on large landownership and agriculture, and the lack of nationalistic spirit among the people of Iran. |
