Show Utah, 54 VS. Colo. College, 6 HOGGAN End T was a marauding band of Redskins that swept through a light, inexperienced Colorado College outfit in the Ute bowl, October I. The Tigers massed their meager defensive strength within the ends to hold the Tribe at bay for the first quarter. Soon after, Utah countered with a maze of end runs until the gun ended the hectic contest with the count reading 54 to 6 for the Crimson. The lowly Tiger threatened early in the first period. Richins fumbled on his own 30-yard marker, Colorado College recovering. Four plays placed the ball on the Utah 20-yard line. Then Richins redeemed himself by stemming the Tiger onrush with a forward pass interception within five yards of the Utah goal. A 157-pound Colorado College back provided the highlight of the game to count the invaders' sole score. Halfback McClure tucked a kickoff under his arm and streaked through the entire Crimson horde with nary a hand being laid upon him. The Tigers, however, did not even threaten to score in any other part of the game. Johnson Brings Down Mohler After Short Gain Page 245 |
