Show Athletic Council Walter A. Kerr Chairman HE final court of appeals in matters of intercollegiate athletics as they pertain to the University of Utah is the Athletic Council, familiarly referred to as the "Ute board of strategy." Incorporating as it does important judiciary and executive powers, it has never resorted to questionable "strategy." Since its inception it has never departed from its really delicate task of serving as an intermediary between athletes, the University, the Rocky Mountain Conference, and the public. Such impartial representation is accomplished by its diversified membership: faculty, students, and alumni. A season singularly free from taint, and marked by extended recognition of high ideals of sportsmanship, offers a concrete illustration of how well this intention has been executed. A favorable public viewpoint concerning athletic functions in general and intersectional play in particular has been gained largely by the efforts of the board. The council members are: Professor Walter A. Kerr, chairman, Dr. H. Leo Marshall, secretary, Coach Ike Armstrong, Thomas Hull, bursar, Wesley Anderson, Dr. L. L. Daines, Pete Carlston, and Darwin Howard. Kerr, Anderson, Hull, Parmelee Daines, Carlston, Howard, Armstrong Page 236 |
