Show Standing-Smith, Barrett, Redd (Director), Pearson (Manager), Skidmore (Asst. Manager) Seated-Anson, Blood, Davis, Augustine Kneeling-Nielson, Call Freshman Play To the Freshman Play as a campus institution should go credit for stimulating interest in amateur theatricals among new entrants to the University. The play, the only one in which freshmen can take part, is considered the annual achievement of the class. This year, the standard for outstanding amateur productions has been maintained with "The Family Upstairs," presented January 27 and 28. Cast in the leading role was Margaret Anson, who more than pleased the audience in her interpretation of the unpopular daughter. Evelyn Blood, playing the heaviest part, did a marvelous characterization of the talkative mother, who nearly wrec ked a happy romance. Others who greatly added to the success of the family drama were Oliver Smith, Homer Davis, Katherine Augustine, Beatrice Call, Reed Barrett, and Edithbelle Hammel. To Miss Marion Redd, as director, go plaudits for her patient, persistent, finished work with the young thespians. Henry Pearson, as manager, with the assistance of Rex Skidmore, capably handled the production in every detail. Page 139 |
