The year 1933 was no exception. Within the state only one team contested with the Redskins, this the aggregation from Utah Aggies, the Cougars being without pool facilities. At the division meet, staged at the Deseret gymnasium February I I, Coach Charles Welch exhibited the usual well-balanced entry common to Utah University. When the final event had been run off complete Ute domination was marked to the score: Utah University 64, Utah State Agricultural College 28, and Montana State College II. In this meet, which saw several records eclipsed, the wearers of the Red and White garnered all but two first places, these two being won by Henry Fox, Montana State College sprint ace. The sole dual meet in which Captain Orson Spencer and his mates participated was held at Logan, January 28. In this encounter the Tribe met unexpected strength in the Farmer water adepts. The Aggies pulled one surprise after another, grabbing points consistently and emerging with 36 points to 48 for Utah University. captain Urson bpencer Page 274 |
