Show u State Track Meet Utah . . B. Y. U. . Utah Aggies 63 60 29 CANNON Two Mile PSETS galore! Thus exclaimed practically every observer or tabloid reader in regards to the Utah state track and field fest held at Logan Saturday, May 13. The biggest surprise was, of course, the victory the Redskins obtained. The vital factor in the Ute triumph was due more to the unexpected wins of the Aggies than to the showing of Utah or the failure of the "Y." The reliable Jack Johnson, mammoth Ute hammer thrower, overshadowed Ike Howard's ten-minute-old state record of 150 feet 7 inches in his last throw and went on the file as having bettered his 148.98 feet of the week before to I 5 I feet 3.6 inches which holds for another season. Ed Brady, towering Cougar high jumper, satiated his revenge on Rushforth, who defeated him the week before in setting a new state record of 6 feet 27/$ inches, by leaping 6 feet 3l/4 inches, and giving the "Y" five unpredicted points. Ike Howard came through with two seconds, giving Utah six points in the shot and hammer. JOHNSON Hammer ADAMS Quarter Mile Hodge ties Gourley at state meet by vaulting 12 feet 6 inches Page 267 |
