Show Utah was shut cut of the two-mile. This race provided considerable comment as strategy by the opposing Romneys failed. The Farmer freshman, Roberts, was commissioned to wear down Snyder of the "Y" for three-fourths of the distance so that his favored team mate, Pyper, could finish first. When Pyper developed a pain the plucky Roberts drove on for two more laps to bring A. C. first honors and himself great praise. Ernest Barlow and Grey Lushy finished second and third in the mile, while Jeppson led Dudley "Y" and Terry "U" home in the 440. Snell "Y" mildly surprised by out-throwing Davies "U" with the spear. Millet "Y" robbed Richins "U" out of a first in the broad jump by adding an inch to Richins leading leap on his last try. Utah's 220 aces (Patterson, Schmidt, Goldstein, Greenwell) easily grabbed the 880 relay while a poor baton exchange kept the Crimson's mile relay (Hartenstein, Ed Colson, Adams, Jeppson) from defeating the Cougars. Despite the handicap Utah's team came within a few inches of winning the race.
