Show u Basketball Tonnor, Sheffield, Johnson, Rushforth, Hodge Watkins, Hoggan, Day, Valentine ff KAPPA ALPHA'S classy hoop quint, probably the best team ever to play intramural basketball, waded through a tough divisional schedule and a difficult elimination bracket, defeating the powerful Pilmid five, a three-time winner, in the deciding fray, 27-19. Two hundred thirty-nine men participated on the twenty-eight teams entered. Many close tiffs featured the program, some of them going into extra periods. HE inadequate handball court served host to many ferocious serves and returns while twenty-one trios strove for the title and plaque. Beta Theta Pi, winners of the fall series, and the powerful Faculty outfit seemed capable of reaching the finals. The Beta entry survived without great trouble, but the Faculty met their conquerors in the Honkies. In the final the Honkies team of Major Garff, Jim Wilding, and Roland Funk, were unbeatable, winning all three matches from the Beta aces. Handball Garff, Wilding, Funk Page 277 |
