Show y O H Pen The Pen, quarterly publication of undergraduate literary production at the University, showed unmistakable signs of what one of the faculty reviewers termed "coming of age." Simpleness of cover design, reserved choice of type and paper, and method in organization of material marked a pleasing relief from the glare and confusion of the issues of past years. The contributions themselves showed a maturity of treatment and outlook. The material of the first issue was neatly divided into three moods: escape from reality expressed in metaphysical conceits; groping of the mind for an interpretation of things cosmic; various expressions in prose and poetry aroused by the present-day depression. The second issue, the prose edition, was distinctly in the ironic mood. The spring issue featured winning contributions, in verse and prose, of the Gleam-Scribbler contest. Joseph L.
