Show U T O N I A N . . . 19 3 4 Douglas O. Woodruff Union Building Tmes and conditions change. Our parents never dreamed that there would be a department of the University, unique in itself, designed solely to provide for the social development and recreation of the students. Inadequate educational facilities have been supplanted by the best of equipment and methods, and the finest building in the West to provide for our social activities. Utah's Union Building is the fruit of the hard labor of students, faculty, alumni and friends of our great institution. It is unique in that it provides facilities, on the campus, for formal balls and informal dances, concerts and art exhibits, matinee dances and socials, banquets and teas, and other social activities as well as providing accommodating offices for student administration. Although it has just completed its first year and one-half of operation, and although it is not yet finished, under the able management of Douglas O. Woodruff it has already acquired the reputation of having one of the most beautiful ballrooms to be found anywhere, and is the center of student life and school spirit. Page 33 |
