Show "Damn Yankees" unfolded as the first Kingsbury production, and musical, of the 1959 season.SEX AND THE DEVIL...combine forces to make "Damn Yankees" the years most enjoyable musical. Two Broadway imports, Kathryn Daymon and David Daniels, brought the necessary sparkle to this delightful comedy that only Broadway could have brought. Satan, in his most cunning and spiteful manner, with the aid of the seductive red-head Lola, and the remarkable reincarnated rookie bring the Washington Senators the great victory against the damn Yankees. The devil is bamboozled, Lola "behagged," and the young rookie becomes his good old self again; and as Shakespeare aptly put it, "All's well that ends well."Later in the season, Salt Lake audiences were treated to the talents of the versatile Victor Jory, well-known star of stage and screen. Mr. Jory was supported by a local cast in the year's major comedy, "The Happiest Millionaire."Hailed as one of the year's funniest comedies, "The Happiest Millionaire" followed "Yankees.""Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets. And little boy, little Lola wants you.International favorite, Victor Jory, starred in the University production of "Happiest Millionaire." |
