Show I of the big six:Whitewashing competing with midterms, singing early in the morning, and trophies for the winners; this was U Days.White was splashed on a green mountainside as students again trailed up the hill to whitewash the U for U Days. Then activities clambered back down to the campus. Phi Delta Theta's waterfights got everyone in the spirit of the times with a little dampening of clothing, but not of spirits.Again during Songfest, the Greeks were restricted to only one song and one week to rehearse it in. After many later hours and strained vocal cords, the big night finally came. The groups sounded forth, some imitating the glory of the Tabernacle Choir, others not quite able to imitate anything in particular. But the Tri-Deltas, Delta Phis, Delta Gammas, and Sigma Chis must have, at least, sounded professional, for they won.The Lambda Chi Alpha Pushcarts were well attended as the groups paraded and ran for the trophies which were won by Bailiff Hall, Chi Omega, Kappa Sigma and Alpha Phi. And finally, the week was climaxed in the dance held at Lagoon. June Christie sang, Queen Marilyn Colombo reigned, and the winning trophies were awarded.Whitewashing of the concrete U above the campus started the events. |
