Show NAVAL R 0 T CThe mission of the Navy Reserve Officers Training Corps is to provide suitable training and instruction in essential naval subjects to qualify the Midshipmen for commissions upon graduation in the regular Navy or Marine Corps, or in the Naval Reserve or Marine Corps Reserve. This training is in addition to the regular university schedule and covers study of such subjects as seamanship, navigation, weapons, engineering, and leadership. The Midshipmen of today become the naval officers of tomorrow, and upon them will rest the future security and defense of our country. In this era of fast advances in technology, with the challenge of new weapons, missiles, ships, and concepts of war, the Navy and Marine Corps continue to stress the importance of the human element by giving the Midshipmen a thorough indoctrination in leadership, as he is to become a leader of men. Therefore one of the most important missions of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps is leadership.The unit's Captain, D. H.
