I have not been able to ver ify this story from other sources. The story sounds like a rationalized defense of the action of Irgun and Sternist Jews who, on April 9, 1948, massacred adult Arab villagers in "Deir Yassin," causing David Ben Gurion to apologize to King Abdullah of Jordan. Many of the poems come from and represent Bradstreet's per sonallife. The book is the first collection of poetry written by a be published in English. The book was published in London by Anne's brother-in-law without her knowledge or permis sion. The spiritual autobiography "To My Dear Children" and the Meditations (in prose) were part of a private, family manuscript. They were first published in 1867 as part of a "Collected Works of Anne Bradstreet" volume.
