Show THIRTEEN My Thoughts Are Not Still I The year 1959 was one of adventure, as in the June trek to Hole in the Rock, Rainbow and Bridge, along the Colorado River. Just six months later, in November and December 1959 Madelyn began a five-week journey with Harold in connection with his perfection of a continuous diffuser that effected a revolutionary improvement in both beet and cane sugar refining. They visited Hawaii, New York City, and Boston; London, and Ipswich in England; Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Prestwick, in Scotland. Then on to Copenhagen in Denmark and Malmo in Sweden. They expected to return by way of London and New York, arriving in Denver on December 20. But the trip was terminated a few days earlier by Madelyn's fall and shoulder fracture in Malmo. The trip was exciting for Madelyn. In Honolulu they were met with leis and plumeria, rich with fragrance, and they stayed at the Halikalani Hotel. Madelyn enjoyed meeting and dining with many friends on the island, including Mildred (Mrs. Ray) Dillman, at whose parents' eastern Utah ranch Butch Cassidy other spectacular locations had worked several months after his 271 return from South |
