Everyone laughed at that and Penny sighed in resignation. "Sometimes you're impossible, Vic," said Penny and she laughed also. A little later as the girls walked down towards the gardens they could see the hills stretching out before them. Each one had its own variety of' wild flowers covering it. One had a mantle of yellow Butter Cups and Lupines. Another golden California poppies and still another was cloaked in a mixture of colors ranging from purples, pinks and blues. Dixie ran ahead of them chasing a butterfly which eluded her. The little dog was beside herself with excitement at being out with the girls. Overhead a long arrow shaped column of wild geese was outlined against the brilliant blue sky. They could faintly hear their mournful ciies as they made their towards , way South sunnier climate. "Look at the dandelion leaves." Exlaimed Vicky. "They are so green and tender. We must bring our buckets and pick some so Maddie can prepare them "for dinner." When boiled to taste,with olive oil and lemon juice added and with a pinch of oregano to give them zest,they were delicious. "Not today," said Penny. "I want to see Chang Lin." When they reached the little bridge, they sat down on the grass.and noticed that quite a bit of activity was going on.
