Show - 26 - to catch her in the right mood." As they watched Tom walk off towards the house, it was all they could do to keep from tearing after him and begging for more details. "Well, that's it!" exploded Vicky, when Tom was out of earshot. "If you don't tell me about this ghost you'll really be sorry!" Penny looked at her sister doubtfully. They were so close in age and there had never been any secrets between them. When they were younger their mother even dressed them alike. It was almost as if they were twins and not until recently had each started to develop their own individualism. The bond between the two sisters was strong. They seemed to sense each other's needs and feelings. "Let's go over to the gazebo and I'll tell you the story of the ghost of Gaven House," said Penny. "At least as much of it as I know." She then related the incidents from the very moment she had sensed Claudine's presence for the first time in their bedroom. "Except for seeing her when she roamed the house and gardens, I know no more about her past history than you do, until Tom told us her story a moment ago. Now you know as much as I do." Vicky's eyes were like saucers. "But I do want to add one more thing," said Penny. "The ghost that I see roaming the rooms and gardens of Gaven House and the girl in the picture in our room are one and the same." "Well, I don't see why she appears to you only and not to me. I certainly would like to be her friend too." interjected Vicky. "Perhaps she will, Vic. In fact, the next time I see her I'll ask her that very same question." This appeased Vicky and they started to walk towards the house. Then she stopped stockstill in the garden pathway, looked at her sister and said in an alarmed voice. "Mama! What are we going to tell mama, and papa for that matter? We've never kept any secrets from them!" |
