Her parents were elated because they thought that she had put Dirk out of her mind. In fact, Andre* Junot, the gentleman of fine family that they sent her to France to meet came back with her. He was, indeed, a refined young man and we could see that he was in love with Claudine. Her parents wanted them to be married at Gaven House and then they would close the home and all return to France. In this manner they would be rid of Dirk forever. But, as we soon found out, this was not meant to be. |
