Show 5316 Chaffin- D 3327 have you? A No sir. Q So you can not make that comparison? A I have been up part of her, not clear up. Q How about going up stream, would you say the same was not true going up stream on the Green river so far as you saw it? A I would say exactly the same condition. The water runs so slow it would make very little difference whether you went up or down on the Green river. On the Colorado it would make a lot of difference, on account of swift water. Q It is harder work going up the Colorado? A Yes. Q That is, harder work, in the sense you need more energy to make progress? A Yes sir. Q But so far sandbars and obstructions to navigation are concerned, and so far as every element is concerned except the matter of power, you would say the difficulties of navigation on the Green river up stream are more than they are on the Colorado up stream between the Utah - Arizona line and the foot of Cataract canyon? MR. BLACKMAR: I object to that question as argumentative and speculative. |
