Show 5317 Chaffin- C 3328 ( Question read.) THE SPECIAL MASTER: That is put in the from of an interrogatory, I suppose? Sometimes you phrase your questions so if they were statement of the witness rather than your own interrogatories. MR. FARNSWORTH: It is put in the form of a question. MR. BLACKMAR: It is not a question that can be answered yes or no. THE SPECIAL MASTER: If the witness can not answer it, he can say be can not. I should think this witness, with the experience he has had on the river could answer it one way or the other and make such qualifications as he chooses. A I would say, as far as sandbars was concerned, there was more mud and sand from the mouth of the Green river to the concerned, than on the getting the boat up over, as he says, takes energy, -- for rocks and currents the Colorado, every mile of it, has got her beat the whole distance of her. No one of those but is hard to get over, as far as energy and rocks and danger of getting your boat in there and turning you around. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q I want to finish this phase of the question as quickly |
