Show 5312 Chaffin- D 3323 a Ute Indian. Q Did you come up what is known as the Old Mormon trail? A I don't know it was known as; I didn't know any name. After I got to the river I traded for a boat, traded my horse for a boat, traded an Indian the other horse for some blankets. We went down the San Juan river prospecting, was pretty much disgusted with it, and went down through into the Colorado, and back up. ( Last answer read.) Q Do you recall what time of the year it was you went down? A Yes. It was along in December, I think close to the first part of December. Went up the river and went out for Christmas, came out were right after our trip. BY MR. FARNSWORTH: Q From Gabel camp? A From Cottonwood. BY MR. BLACKMAR: Q Where is Cottonwood? A I don't know.
