A It almost hit a bank square where I was standing. The water went up over the bank. Q The time which you spent there at Bluff near the San Juan river, what seasons of the year, what months did you usually experience the rain storms? A Well, July and August, I think. We had other rains in the fall, but they were more quiet. Q During the months of July and August, when you had these rain storms, did you have a rapid rise in the river? A Yes sir. Q When you say rapid rise, what period of time do you have in mind? A Well, it would rise to its highest, I would say, in half an hour. Q How many feet, would you say, in half an hour? A Well, I have seen it rise four and five feet; stand on the bank sometimes almost see it rise; riffles come down the river. BY THE SPECIAL MASTER: Q How many years did you live at Bluff and Mexican Hat? A About nineteen or twenty. |
