We got our provisions at Richfield, Marysvale, Richfield, and hauled them around by way of Coyote, went up through by Marysvale, as I remember, went from Richfield up Coyote into Escalante, and from Escalante down Escalante desert to what was known as Sixty- mile, a water hole On the old Mormon road that crossed to go into Bluff and the Hole- in- the- Rock, I would say eight or ten miles of the Hole- in- the Rock, that is where the road crossed the Colorado river. From Sixty- mile we carried our stuff, packed it around through what is known as Navajo valley, and down into the Colorado river. There we let it down the ledged with ropes |
