Show 2 1 (1) To construct, operate, and maintain a dam and 2 incidental works in the main stream of the Colorado River 3 at Black Canyon, Boulder Canyon, or such other advanta- 4 geous place as may, in the judgment of the Secretary of the 5 Interior, be more suitable, adequate to create a storage 6 reservoir of a capacity of not less than twenty million acre- 7 feet of water; 8 (2) To construct, operate, and maintain suitable irri- 9 gation and other works, if in his judgment such works are 10 necessary and proper to permit the use in the Imperial and 11 Coachella Valleys, for irrigation and domestic purposes, in 12 the most efficient and economical manner, of the waters of 13 the Colorado River; and 14 (3) To acquire, by proceedings in eminent domain or 15 otherwise, all lands, rights of way, and other property 16 necessary for such purposes. 17 Sec. 2. (a) There is hereby established a special 18 fund, to be known as the " Colorado River Dam Fund " 19 (hereinafter referred to as the " fund") and to be available, 20 as hereinafter provided, only for carrying out the provisions 21 of this Act. All revenues received in carrying out the pro- 22 visions of this Act shall be paid into, and expenditures shall 23 be made out of, the fund under the direction of the Secretary 24 of the Interior. |
