Show -2- 70th Congress S. 728 1st Session In the Senate of the United States April 20 (calendar day, April 25), 1928 Ordered to lie on the table and to be printed AMENDMENT Intended to be proposed by Mr. Phipps to the bill (S. 728) to provide for the construction of works for the protection and development of the lower Colorado River Basin, for the approval of the Colorado River compact, and for other purposes, viz: On page 2, line 24, after the word "purposes", strike out the period, insert a colon, and the following: Provided, That such hydroelectric plant and incidental structures shall not be constructed by the Secretary of the Interior if a satisfactory contract or contracts can be entered into with a State or States, or public subdivisions thereof, or individuals, associations, or corporations, in the order of their priority, for the construction of such plant and for the fullest economic development of electrical energy. |
