Show 10 1 lands benefited thereby, and the Secretary of the Interior is 2 hereby empowered, after a full hearing of all concerned to 8 allocate the costs of any such canal and appurtenant struc- 4 turcs among the various districts, communities, and lands 5 served thereby, according to the benefits derived therefrom. 6 Sec. 12. That nothing in this Act shall be construed 7 as modifying in any manner, the existing contract, dated 8 October 23, 1918, between the United States and Imperial 9 irrigation district, providing for a connection with Laguna 10 Dam; but the Secretary of the Interior is authorized to 11 modify the said contract, with the consent of the said dis- 12 trict, in order to provide for the construction, in accordance 13 with the terms of this Act, of a canal, or canals, and appurte- 14 nant structures, adequate to serve the lands of said district, 15 and other lands that may be served thereby, and to equitably 16 allocate the costs thereof. 17 Sec. 13. That wherever the words "political subdi- 18 vision " or " political subdivisions " are used herein they 19 shall be understood to include any State, district, municipal- 20 ity, or other governmental organization. |
