Show 17 J entitled "An Act to permit a compact or agreement between 2 the States of Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New 3 Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming respecting the disposition and 4 apportionment of the waters of the Colorado River, and for 5 other purposes," is hereby approved by the Congress of the 6 United States, and the provisions of the first paragraph of 7 article 11 of the said Colorado River compact, making said 8 compact binding and obligatory when it shall have been 9 approved by the legislature of each of the signatory States, 10 are hereby waived, and this approval shall become effective 1 i when at least six of the signatory States, including the State 12 of California, shall have approved or may hereafter approve 13 said compact as aforesaid and shall consent to such waiver. 1-J- (b) The rights of the United States in or to waters of 15 the Colorado River and its tributaries howsoever claimed or ltf acquired, as well as the rights of those claiming under the 17 United States, shall be subject to and controlled by said 16 Colorado River compact. 10 (c) Also all patents, grants, contracts, concessions, 20 leases, permits, licenses, rights of way or other privileges 21 from the United States or under its authority, necessary or 22 convenient for the use of waters of the Colorado River 23 or its tributaries, or for the generation or transmission of 2-1 electrical enenry generated by means of the waters of snid II.
