Show 11 1 man shall pay tlie proportionate share, an determined by the 2 said Secretary, of the const motion cost of the canal or canals 8 and appurtenant structures constructed for the irrigation and 4 reclamation of said lands, as provided for by this Act, such 5 construction cost to he paid in such instalments and at such 6 times as limy he specified by the Secretary of the Interior, in 7 accordance with the provisions of the said reclamation law: 8 I'rttvidrd, That all persons who have served in the United 9 State* Army, Navy, or Marino Corps during the war with 10 (icrmany, the war with Spain, or in the suppression of the 11 insurrection in the Philippines, nnd who have been honor- 12 nbly separated or discharged therefrom or placed in the 13 Regular Army or Xavy Koserve. shall have the exclusive 14 preference right for a period of three months to enter said 15 hinds; and also, so far as practicable, preference shall be 10 uiven to said persons in all construction work authorized by 17 this Act: Provided, That in the event such an entry shall 18 he ro)in<|uished at any time prior to actual residence upon 19 the land by the entry man for not less than one year, lands so 20 relinquished shall not be subject to entry for a period 21 of sixty days after the filing and notation of the relinquish- 22 nient in the local land oilico. and alter the expiration of said :'.'• sixty-day period such lands shall be open to entry, subject 1M to the preference in this section provided. |
