Show 4 1 the amount of money in the fund in excess of the amount 2 necessary for construction, operation, and maintenance, and 3 payment of interest. Upon receipt of each such certificate, 4 the Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and directed to 5 charge the fund with the amount so certified as repayment of 6 the advances made under subdivision (b), which amount 7 shall be covered into the Treasury to the credit of misceuV 8 neous receipts, and shall be available for the purposes 9 specified in subdivision (g). 10 (f) In order to make the advances to the fund, the 11 Secretary of the Treasury may, if he deems it advisable, 12 exercise the authority granted by the various Liberty Bond 13 Acts and the Victory Liberty Loan Act, as amended and 14 supplemented, to issue bonds, notes, and certificates of 15 indebtedness of the United States; and any bonds so issued 1(5 shall be disregarded in computing the maximum amount of 17 bonds authorized by section 1 of the Second Liberty Bond 18 Act, as amended. 19 (g) The Secretary of the Treasury is authorized and 20 directed to use, upon such terms and conditions as he may 21 prescribe, for the payment, redemption, or purchase, at not 22 to exceed par and accrued interest, of any bonds, notes, or 23 certificates of indebtedness of the United States, the money 24 covered into the Treasury under subdivision (e) in repay- 25 ment of the amounts advanced. |
