Show UNIVERSITY LECTURESAs in years past, the University Lecture Series offered a challenging and stimulating program of excellent speakers. Highlighting this year's program were the Reynold's and Leigh lectures. Presented jointly by the Reynolds Association and the Extension Division, C. H. Hardin Branch spoke before an interested and awed audience. Omar Stewart was brought to the University of Utah to speak in the Leigh Lecture which was sponsored by the Extension Division. The "World of the University" lectures, featuring prominent faculty members and student leaders as speakers, were of great interest to all students because they were designed to help every student adjust to University life."The Ute Indians Before and After White Contact' was the title of the lecture by Dr. Stewart.Faculty members and students discussed topics concerning the "World of the University."GREAT ISSUES FORUMFor the twelfth consecutive year the Philosophy Department and the Department of Continuing Education have combined efforts to produce a stimulating and exciting series of lectures in their "Great Issues Forum" series. Each year a specific phase of Philosophy is emphasized with this year's centering around "Great Issues Concerning Theism." The many fascinating speakers came from the English Department, Dr. William Mulder and Dr. K. E. Eble, as well as from the Philosophy Department, Dr. Waldemar P. Read and Dr. Sterling McMurrin.Reynolds Lecture was delivered by Hardin Branch.Dr. Read of the Philosophy Department spoke on "What Difference Does it Make." |
