Show Debate members were (row 1) Joan Peterson, Bonnie Thorpe, Chad Hansen, Margaret Dixon, Joan Orr, Kathy Eastmond, Pat Denhalter, Nancy Denhalter, (row 2) Ron Snyder, Linda Jensen, George A.DEBATEAdamson, coach, Patricia Warr, Kay Israel, Leslie Ford, Scott Hor-man, (row 3) Bob Stevens, Steve Wood, Dave McCleary, Lee Burn-ham, Lloyd Stewart, Kathy Bitner, (row 4) Grant Kesler, Paul Taylor, Tim Dunn, Blaine Carlton and Jeanne Weston.Debate Managers were (row 1) Pat Denhalter, Nancy Denhalter, (row 2) Joan Orr and Richard Brown.Under the leadership of George Adamson, coach, and Pat and Nancy Denhalter and Richard Brown, debate managers, the University's debate team made an outstanding showing this year. Junior debaters captured the second place sweepstakes trophy at the annual BYU Tournament, first place in the Southwest Pacific Debates in San Diego, third place in the Northern California debates at St. Mary's, and first place at the Boulder Tournament. Senior debaters traveled to the Tau Kappa Alpha - Delta Sigma Rho National Tournament in Indiana, Annapolis Naval Academy, and Harvard. Senior teams also represented the University at UCLA, Denver, and the annual Linfield Tournament held in Oregon.194 |
