Show Gifford Price, as ASUU President, served in many capacities: co-chairman of the student affairs committee, member of the Union Board, and Chairman of the Executive Council. He also supported plans for a new multiple use athletic activities center. In working with a new University administration, Giff established a spirit of co-operation which permeated all aspects of University and student affairs.EXECUTIVE COUNCILThe Executive Council this year emphasized its role as an administrator by removing itself from programming as much as possible. It assumed an executive attitude in working to broaden the base of responsibility for student government and to better represent the entire student body. Through improved communication via the campus press and luncheon meetings with the various organizations and segments of the campus, it tried to more fully fulfill its role as a voice of the students to the University administration. At the same time, it worked closely with President Fletcher and other administrators in matters dealing with student welfare.130Craig Battison, ASUU 1st Vice President, was concerned with the areas of student-faculty communications and foreign student integration. He worked to create better relations between students and faculty and to avoid segmentation of foreign students into their own separate groups.Jim Moss, as 2nd Vice President, was given the general area of "Executive Affairs" as well as his constitutional duties of being in charge of elections and prosecutor of the ASUU Student Court. He acted as chairman or coordinator of exec council projects such as Challenge, Student Tutoring, and Panel of Americans. |
