Show The Sophomore Class Officers, Dave Young, Bob Woolf, Marilyn Condie, Kim Bennion, and Diane Allred, planned the Snow Carnival for 1965. Snow sculpturing spotlighted Friday's events. Sororities and fraternities along with Lambda Delta Sigma members worked to carve piles of snow into recognizable forms. With the theme of "Alpine Holiday," the sculptures ranged from St. Bernards to Voiles wagons. Colored ice topped a highland cottage, and hornblowers guarded their mountain sheep. A heavy snowfall in the valley dampened some of the spirits of hopeful participants in Saturday's events at Solitude, but the Pi Phi's and Alpha Chi's came in full force to take the skiing and snow shoe trophies respectively. Snow Carnival ended Saturday night with the traditional dance and the announcement of the queen and her attendants.University students get the spirit of Snow Carnival after Saturday's arrival of a fresh blanket of snow.- _.With a new snowfall, some students decide to make another snow sculpture.Falling snow did not daunt the spirit of this ski enthusiast. |
