Show TRACKThe 1965 version of the Ute track team included a new coach and a lot of action. Coach Pete Carlston took over this year as head track coach at Uteville. Pete was not totally new to the sport. Before coming to Utah he coached three conference championship teams at Mesa Junior College. He also had great success as a high school and university coach. There is probably no sport at Utah with which he has not been connected. He performed well with the 1932-33 Redskin football team during years when the Redskins captured two conference crowns and tied for a third. The 1965 campaign in track emphasized building for the future with a brand new coach and mostly new faces on the squad.jBr*E^ *«&&"- • •- «¦«You can't always be first.imsmmmA Ute on his way over the top.Track Team members were: (row 1) Ken Chelin, Scott Peterson, De-lane Bell, Gary Lambert, Ben Stowell, Jim Chamberlain, Don Koker-hans, Kent Livsey, Dave Snapp, Duane Mahoney (row 2) Don Schultz, Wayne Smith, Taylor Williams, Louis Moench, Dennis Gladwell,Hugh Vorhees, Dennis Hall, Joe McBride, Larry Moss, Larry Stott (row 3) Nick Luke, Doug Wells, Donald Payne, Ted Alsop, Ray Reeves, Lorin Nielson, Robert Ballard, Dean Morgan (row 4) Pete Carlston, Coach, Jack Snow, Jim Hawkins, Steve Player, Bill Devries, Jim Beckstead, Armin Blaufus, Doug Hammer, Wendell Smoot. |
