Show SPOTLIGHTONFRANCEThis year's "Spotlight on France" gave University students an opportunity to gain insight into the history and development of France. Spotlight opened with President Fletcher cutting the ribbon to the exhibit on French culture, and Mr. Edouard Morot-Sir, director of French Cultural Services, speaking on the "French Cultural Contribution to the United States." Politics, economics, and philosophy were some of the broad topics discussed by four noted French experts plus professors from the various departments. A panel on existentialism headed by Dr. Charles Monson discussed the topic of French existentialism and its component parts in America, followed by an evening of French Classical Music presented by Miss Claudine Carlson. A French luncheon and fashion show introduced French food and the latest French spring fashions to those present. Spotlight ended with a lecture given by Mr. Michael Oriano on "The Future of France in a Changing World."President Fletcher snips the ribbon and opens the exhibit on French culture.213 |
