Show COACHESJack Gardner, having completed his 12th year as head coach, has established a record of 238 wins and only 92 losses. In league play his ball clubs racked up 115 wins to 41 defeats, and copped six conference titles. The University has always had a great basketball tradition, and Coach Gardner has become a part of it. Utah is the only school in the nation to have won all three of the country's major hoop titles - NCAA, NIT, and AAU. Gardner stresses this tradition. In 11 of the past 16 years the Utes ranked in the top ten of the nation. Assisting Coach Gardner in maintaining the Ute tradition were Morris Buckwalter, Jerry Pimm, and Doug Moon. Buckwalter was captain of the Running Redskins in his senior year and was voted the Most Inspirational Performer in his junior year. An All-Conference star himself, Buckwalter was valuable as a Ute scout and a varsity assistant. Jerry Pimm, completing his fourth season as freshman coach, boasted a 12-1 record. This gave Pimm an overall record of 43 wins and 11 losses. Doug Moon, a standout on last year's varsity, assisted with the frosh team.Morris Buckwalter Jerry Pimm Doug MoonAssistant Coach Assistant Coach Student AssistantJack GardnerHead Coach |
