Show EDUCATIONPreparing students for careers in teaching and educational administration was the responsibility of the College of Education. The college also cooperated with educators throughout the state in research and in-service programs. The William M. Stewart School, ranging from kindergarten to ninth grade, was maintained for the purpose of observation and experimentation.Concentrated study takes place in the business library.NURSINGA broad general education complete with actual hospital expedience combined to produce nursing graduates who were professionals in their field. The College of Nursing emphasized the importance of the ability to work with community and state health service facilities, the ability to reason in problem-solving situations, and the necessity for understanding each patient.A student-teacher helps a child with arithmetic problems.BUSINESSThe principle purpose of the College of Business was to give professional training to those who desired a career in private business, government service, or economic and business research. The new business building, which opened for the first time this year, provided students in the college with new classroom facilities and a spacious library of business resource material.An orange becomes the object of shooting practice.PHARMACYThe College of Pharmacy operated a five-year program for those wishing degrees in this field. Original work and research was encouraged, and the graduates were expected to assist in the promotion of better public health facilities, advise members of other health professions on the use of drugs, and promote professional relations among members of the medical science professions.A pharmacist mixes his medicine with careful exactness.74 |
