Show BETWEEN THEIR SOPHOMORE AND JUNIOR YEARS STUDENTS MADE A CHOICE AMONG THE THIRTEENCOLLEGES OF THE UNIVERSITYFINE ARTSEncouraging the development of cultural activities in the community as well as the University was one of the aims of the College of Fine Arts. Degrees offered in the college included those of architecture, music, art and sculpture, and theater and ballet. Students were given special courses designed to broaden their understanding and enjoyment of all the arts in addition to their own specific field. Assisting in the presentation of exhibitions, concerts, theater, opera, ballet, and other artistic productions gave the students a chance to put their knowledge into practice to the enjoyment of everyone.Precision and patience unfold into a beautiful work of art.LETTERS AND SCIENCESThe College of Letters and Sciences offered not only a large variety of major subjects, but was also responsible for the General Education program of University students during their first two years of school. The traditional departments of the liberal arts and sciences provided a broad variety of courses for all undergraduates. In addition to the classes offered, the College was also responsible for administering research and instructional agencies such as the Speech and Hearing Clinic, University Observatory and the Utah Training Center for the Prevention and Control of Juvenile Delinquency, which provided valuable services to the state.A graduate student conducts aquatic research. |
