Show One of the University's most outstanding instructors and the former Dean of Students, Neal A. Maxwell, has assumed a new responsibility this year. As Vice President of Student and Public Affairs, he administers the student personnel, athletic, development, fund-raising, public relation, and alumni programs on campus. He has devoted much time to informing citizens and students of the academic contributions of our faculty and scholars.In addition to administering grants and contracts for research amounting to millions of dollars, Dr. Christensen is a professor in chemistry, metallurgy, and ceramics. Before his appointment as Coordinator of Cooperative Research in 1954, he was Dean of Mines and Metallurgical Industries. Also, Dr. Christensen is the head of the Utah Engineering Experiment station.James R. Jack received his B.S. Degree from the University of Utah and then did graduate work at Northwestern University. In 1957 he was appointed Athletic director, and in 1961 he became Director of Development. As Director of Development he has the responsibility of raising funds through donations to be used for the expansion and betterment of the University.Neal A.
